This was the first day of a five-day ride along La Vélomaritime (EV4) and the North Sea Cycle Route (EV12) from Dieppe to Hoek van Holland. Dieppe to Fort-Mahon-Plage was a ride of two halves, with nearly all the climb in the first 30 miles. Most of the today’s route is on roads or sealed surfaces. The only rough bit was about 2 miles of unsealed cyclepath after Hautebut, between Ault and Cayeaux-sur-Mer. From Le Hourdel to Le Crotoy (Marais du Crotoy), the route is on a cyclepath alongside main roads, which is well surfaced but slightly tedious, especially when hedged in on both sides. The forest section around Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont towards La Dune Fleurie was well surfaced and quite picturesque. We got caught in one heavy shower mid-afternoon. Forty minutes later, we had just dried out and arrived at Fort-Mahon-Plage when it rained again; fortunately, we were able to shelter under a shop awning, so we did not arrive with everything soaked!

Lauren liked this tour.
