This difficult route will test your endurance with a significant elevation gain of 2976 feet (907 metres), typically completed in about 2 hours and 48 minutes. You will ride through varied terrain, from paved sections to rugged dirt roads and exciting singletrack, offering a dynamic experience for skilled riders.

This demanding loop requires very good fitness and advanced riding skills, so come prepared for a strenuous outing. Be aware that some technical sections, particularly on the ascent towards Monte Faeta, feature steep gradients and loose rocks, which might require you to push your bike. While e-bikes can offer some assistance, managing the route without electric support is quite a workout.

One of the standout features of this trail is the Monte Faeta Summit View, where you can enjoy expansive panoramic vistas of Pisa, the Arno river, and the distant sea. On clear days, you might even spot the island of Gorgona. As you approach Monte Faeta from Campo di Croce, you will also pass through a beautiful fir forest, known locally as an abetaia, adding a distinct natural element to your ride.

Monte Faeta Summit View

Highlight โ€ข Summit

Irresistible viewpoint. Challenging climb from campo di croce. With an "easy" ebike but the bike must be managed, without electric help the climb is complicated, heavy but within the reach of anyone who has a decent workout because the ground is good enough. A bit of self-propelled gravel towards the top when the Slope increases also breaks the boxes a lot but with a 22-36 you go up. ๐Ÿ˜„ Maybe the last two straights are really tough for me as I have several kilos too much and I don't train consistently on similar slopes. But it is worth going up there. I recommend to the less trained to try and at the most finish it on foot or even do it all on foot as the view is beautiful. Downhill towards the cross field there is no need for special driving skills. The first 20 meters of descent are steep with an immediate left curve that gives the impression of not being able to turn at speed. A telescopic or lowered seat is a great starting point for safety. But the descent is also enjoyable.
