Billionaires' Bay Beach

Highlight • Beach

Inaccessible on foot before 2011, this beach is now accessible and a relatively new addition for hikers circling Cap d'Antibes. With a small access path, the beach has a wild side. Beautiful turquoise waters for swimming and cooling off.

Is the Cap d'Antibes trail a loop?

No, the Tour of Cap d'Antibes is not a circular loop. It typically runs from near Plage de la Garoupe to Billionaires' Bay. If you wish to avoid retracing your steps, you'll need to return to your starting point via inland roads.

Where does the trail start and where can I park?

The trail commonly starts near Plage de la Garoupe. Parking can be found in the vicinity of Plage de la Garoupe, though it can be limited, especially during peak season. Arriving early in the morning is advisable to secure a spot.

What is the terrain like on the Sentier du Littoral?

The terrain is primarily a rocky limestone path, often narrow and uneven, winding along the coastline. You'll encounter charming stonework, stairways, and sections that go up and down cliffs and through coves. While mostly rugged, there are also wider, more park-like sections. What is the best time of year to hike this trail?

The best time to visit is typically during the spring (April-June) or early autumn (September-October) when the weather is pleasant, and the crowds are smaller. Summer can be very hot and busy, while winter can bring strong Mistral winds, making some sections more challenging.

Is the Tour of Cap d'Antibes dog-friendly?

Information regarding specific dog allowances on the Cap d'Antibes coastal path can vary. It's best to check local signage or official Antibes tourism resources for the most current regulations regarding dogs on the trail and beaches.

Do I need a permit or pay an entrance fee for the trail?

No, there is no permit required or entrance fee to access the Sentier du Littoral. Public access to the shoreline is ensured by French coastal law.

Are there opportunities for swimming along the path?

Starting from the parking lot 🅿️ on the "Chemin de la Garoupe" shortly before sunrise 🌅 to the beach 🌴🏊🏼‍♂️. Now you are at the start of the circular route from "Cap d'Antibes". The light red sun ☀️ slowly peeks out on the horizon. The fresh sea air of the still calm Mediterranean completes the impressive and pleasant morning atmosphere. The tour led along the coast, partly along the path and partly over rocks 🪨 along the water 💦. Past the "Pointe de la Garoupe" and further to the bay of the "Billionaires Beach" 🏖️. Here you also have the opportunity to go into the cool water 🏊🏼‍♂️. We went up the stairs ⬆️ and along the street back 🔙 to the starting point 🅿️.

We circle the Cap d'Antibes on the old customs path. The path along the rocks and bays is very varied. Fortunately, with a clear blue sky, there is a little wind in between and you can cool off in the azure blue water.

Unfortunately, I was a bit surprised by the condition of the paths and the route, which took a lot of getting used to. The height information is also not really meaningful. Still a nice route!

Beautiful sunrise walk at Cap d'Antibes ☀️ In August it's worth setting off early in the morning as it gets hot very quickly. Great walk to just enjoy the peace and quiet. Good footwear is recommended.

The rich live on the Cap d'Antibes near Nice. Luckily, a French law dictates that the coastal paths must remain open to the general public. A really wonderful way.

Really nice, even with a child (10) no problem. Beautiful coastal path with great views

The famous coastal path around Cap d'Antibes is also called the "hair remover path" because the wind can really damage your hair here. Today it was almost windless but the narrow paths were very busy. Tip: Avoid at the weekend!

Very beautiful path along the rocky coast at Cap d'Antibes. Good footwear and surefootedness required, some scree sections.
