The track along this part of the reservoir is very good quality and clearly well-trodden: wide and flat, and provides welcome shade when the sun is scorching.

April 24, 2022, Fewston Reservoir circular via Blubberhouses

Fewston Reservoir is the perfect walk for those looking for a bit of scenery and nature not too far off the beaten track. In fact there are well maintained paths all along this walk. Those with pushchairs will find it a breeze. There is a stretch of road to walk right at the start with no paths. Cars do go slow over the bridge, so this is not a problem. Then its all pedestrain after that, until the junction of the second reservoir where there is a road to cross leading to the next walk up to Blubberhouses. For those families with kids that love to ride their bikes why not join them and cycle around instead?

Wonderful & peaceful morning round both reservoirs, a bit damp but not windy or cold. Bonus that my hamstrings held up

Paid parking now in the car parks. £3 for 6 hrs. Pretty flat well paved routes. Coffee as washburn heritage centre or overpriced coffees from ice cream vans in car parks. Picnic spots. Pram friendly routes. Can be busy.

Back to an old favourite with some good company I met 30 yrs ago! Started from post code HG3 1SU and kept to the well laid track around both reservoirs. Easy flat walk taking in some woodland paths and amazing scenery. Good for a caual walk as well as bringing family/kids. Can make it a bit of a hike with a detour into timble woods if you want - see my other hike for this route. Remember to take some food for the over friendly ducks who will happily eat out of your hands 🤲

Postcode is LS21 2NP (car park with toilets). Pay and display (£3 for 6 hours for us). Can also use RingGo app. Flat and easy hike around the 2 reservoirs along well marked paths, woodland tracks and a tiny road section. Ducks will need feeding, we took birdfood.
