May 11, 2024, Legs Oot Largs Loop ☀️🦑🍦

First bare legs of the season, what a day! Scar is coming along nicely and went well with the colour of my shorts today. It's called fashion sweetie 💁‍♀️ I was up early and on the train to Greenock with my roadie. Forgot to start recording when I left the station but I did do a complete loop! The hill climbing out of greenock and onto Old Largs Road is such a humdinger. Once you're up though I love it up there, lambs roaming over the road and a lovely long descent into Largs. Got my usual 6 quid squid from the amazing chippie by the sea, filled up my water bottle from the free Scottish water tap and followed the coast road round to Inverkip. There's a sketchy bit of A road after Wemyss Bay but you don't have to stay on it long, take the first exit and then head for the on ramp back to the same road - blink and you'll miss it but there is a wee cycle path to the left before you rejoin the carriageway. NCR753  (I think) gets quite gravelly from Inverkip to Lunderston Bay, lovely but I

What a beautiful day it turned out to be, sunshine by the sea is just *chef's kiss* I did this route a year ago and averaged 16.6km per hour so I'm chuffed to see the difference. Last time I made it all the way back to greenock which I think does involve some hilly bits if I remember right, but I also stayed on the road instead of joining the cycle path at Inverkip marina which turns into pretty loose gravel and killed my speed, so on balance I think they're comparable. I'm taking it anyway 😄. Would have carried on to greenock, but chilling on the beach in the sun meant I'd miss the train from there. Thought I would find that hill coming out of greenock onto old Largs Road much less challenging, but it was still absolutely brutal. Love cycling through the lambs roaming free on the road 🐑 Had chips in Largs and an ice cream on the beach at Lunderston Bay so I guess it's a salad for tea.

On a beautiful day ☀️. If you like endless scenic views, and up and down bits, this route is for you 😊 Route credit to @Jo Ferries
