The most famous volcano in the area is probably the Puy de Dôme. But it's a bustling tourist destination, and you can take the train to the top. It's very reminiscent of the Brocken in the Harz Mountains. I chose the "second most famous" volcanoes and puffed hard until I reached both peaks – just like the steam locomotive on the Brocken 🚂. And from here, you also have a great view of the Puy de Dôme 😉.
The Puy de la Vache is one of the 80 volcanoes of the Chain from Puy and is attached to the Puy de Lassolas. These two volcanoes are the two youngest of the Puys chain, they are over 8000 years old and their last eruption around 6020 BC. They are monogenic volcanoes, that is to say born from a single eruptive episode, of the Strombolian type. The two Puys form two cinder cones, the color of which ranges from red to black.
