We were out and about again today, in the Dresden Heath. We started at the small, free parking lot on Kannenhenkelweg. We continued past the sand pit along beautiful forest paths to Königsplatz. We passed the memorial to the fallen forest workers of World War I and II and reached the home of the sand lizard. From there, it wasn't far to the parking lot. ☀️🥾👍😎
The weather app showed sub-zero temperatures and grey clouds with snowflakes for the day early this morning. We were amazed to see how more and more sun shone through our windows and the sky changed colour from grey to blue. So we left the housework to be housework and went on another tour based on the recommendations of the Dresden Heath Working Group. We first went over the Gegebaut Kannenhenkel along the sand pit to the sand dune, from which you have a small view of part of the city. With a detour over lane 18, we soon reached the historic Todweg, which is also known as the eye because of its signpost. After the Todweg had rejoined the Gegebaut Kannenhenkel, we followed it to Königsplatz. There was a place here for a short rest today and after a little refreshment we went over the Rennsteig to wing E. This ran for a while along the Kuhschwanz, which we followed to the forest monument. The memorial commemorates foresters who died in both world wars. Back on wing E, we turned a little too early into lane 18 instead of lane 19. This planning error on my part gave us a happy up and down to the Old Kannenhenkel and gave me a catchy tune of "Between the mountain and the deep, deep valley...". The Old Kannenhenkel led us to the starting point of the tour and as dusk fell we returned to our warm homes. https://www.komoot.com/de-de/collection/2476092/-akdh-touren-des-arbeitskreises-dresdner-heide

In itself a nice hike, but after the comment on the North Cemetery, which is politically extremely borderline simple, we say: No thanks, we'll put together our own.
