Caumasee and Rhine Gorge loop

A physically demanding hike...but well worth it. 👍👍👍

Wow wow wow 🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭 What a great tour of the Rhine Gorge. From the start in Flims Waldhaus you walk steadily downhill, past the picturesque Lake Cauma and the Il Spir viewing platform to the gorge through which the Rhine finds its way. Through the gorge itself, it then goes up and down shallowly and the water always invites you to take a short bathing break (yes, you can swim in the Rhine here or put on a towel on the bank). The only drawback of the tour: the ascent comes at the end . And it really has me up to 26% incline. 🍏 Refreshments in Conn and at the train station in Versam

Very hot temperatures were announced today ☀️. That's why we started at 8:00 a.m. in Flims Dorf so as not to melt in the sweltering heat in the Rhine Gorge below 🥵😵‍💫. At this time of day you are really very alone on the road, hardly met other people. Only after more than 12km did the first hikers gradually come towards us. During our Rhine gorge hike, shortly after Flims Waldhaus, we of course took a look at Lake Cauma and immediately went on to the "Il Spir" viewing platform. Up to here we have met maybe 5 people (with a dog or jogger 😅). So the platform above the Rhine Gorge was ours, all alone 😎. Then use an unmarked forest path until just before the descent down to the gorge. Below is the railway bridge, which we also had to take to cross the Vorderrhein. We could already hear it on the tracks that a train would soon rush past us. So we waited a moment to walk across the bridge until everything is quiet again (the RhB drives really close to the pedestrian part of the bridge). On the way along the Rhine we encountered a train composition a few more times. The hiking trail in the gorge is quite varied and it often goes up and down again to overcome big obstacles. On the Rhine we also saw kayaks, canoes and rubber boats, very busy 👍🏻. After a good 6.5km in the Rhine gorge we had to cross a bridge again at some point to get back to the other side of the Rhine. There we watched the kayaks having fun on the Rhine below us for a few minutes. Not unnoticed. A paddler approaching us with his whitewater kayak had obviously noticed us for a long time and unexpectedly put down a finest Eskimo roll for us shortly before the bridge 😎🤩 and then said goodbye to us upstairs. Another highlight of the day 👌🏻. Thank you stranger! From there it went up a long way and in the forest just before the hamlet of Salums it was also quite steep 🥵 (place with over 200 holiday apartments, villas and holiday residences 💰). At the entrance to Flims Waldhaus you cross the rope park, which was very well attended today. Back in Flims at the hottest time of the day, there was finally something cool to drink 🤔😅 That was a beautiful day 🤗😎

Take the bus 411 back to the Caumasee parking. One per hour until the evening. And don't miss the home made ice cream at Ronja's ;)

Beautiful hike around the striking turquoise-green Lake Cauma. Freely accessible in the low season. Continue along the Conn-Bächli, a 6km long irrigation canal through the Flimserwald. To the magnificent Rhine Gorge. The Grand Canyon of Switzerland with sandstone cliffs up to 350 meters high. A dream! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Long tour in, along and over the gorge. Branches from the hiking trail took me to interesting viewpoints that are rarely visited.

Rhine Gorge from below and above - and the Ruinaulta (Romansh name) is spectacular everywhere. This tour is a single highlight, starting with the beautiful path along the Rhine, the rather tough climb, the il Spir viewing platform and the path up on the ridge (or crest), the great descent, the orchid path from Sagogn, the exciting path along the Rhine with various impressive structures to protect against rockfall and the impressive rock formations.
