Hiking

This circular route takes you through dark forests via a part of the forest nature trail and the Herrenwieser saddle to the approximately 1000 meter high Badenerhöhe.

The second highest mountain in the northern part of the national park has always been a popular destination. Cattle grazed on it until the early 20th century. In 1999, hurricane "Lothar" also deforested larger areas. So
Areas rich in dead wood and heaths developed, in the Black Forest they are called grinds (High German: Glatzen).

When the weather is clear, you can enjoy a wide view from the lookout tower over a sea of trees, with a bit of luck even as far as the Vosges.

The trail continues steadily uphill on small and large paths to the Friedrichsturm, which offers a wonderful panoramic view that I was unable to photograph due to a lack of battery power. The way back took me along a pretty wooded path back to the starting point. A wooden bench with a view of beautiful meadows.
