This hike is full of peaceful nature, with its bocage valleys blending harmoniously with the white waters of the rivers. The route is marked by springs and streams that together form the region's two valleys: the valley of the Eau Blanche river, whose name comes from the whitish appearance of its limestone bed, and the valley of the Eau Noire river, whose slate bed gives it a darker appearance.
Above the rocky outcrop is the "Franc Bois": flint and tools were discovered here, proving the presence of man since prehistoric times. Close to the old fortifications, an impressive viewpoint awaits you over the village of Lompret, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia.
Tip: After the hike, it is worth taking a detour to Chimay. The town is particularly famous for its beers and the Trappist cheese of the same name, which are produced in the Notre-Dame de Scourmont abbey, located very close to the town.
