Hiking

This round in the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park connects Sternenfels with its Schlossbergturm (castle hill tower) and Diefenbach, a half-timbered village in the valley, via a ridge. Through forests and over vineyards, you will reach a viewpoint where an orientation panel shows you the distant destinations on the horizon.

From the "Sternenfels Rathaus" (town hall) bus stop, the path leads up to the Schlossberg. At the top, an exhibition explains the history and geology of the place. From the Schlossbergturm, your view extends far into the surrounding area. Next to the tower are a hill sofa, a playground, and the Sternle, a small refreshment stand with a beer garden for a first break. The path then leads you over the Bannhalde hill pass, where there is a drinking fountain from the Lake Constance Water Supply, and continues through the forest to the Füllmenbacher Hof, where the Swabian Alb Association operates a hikers' lodge.

Behind the vineyards and the Diefenbacher König viewpoint lies Diefenbach in the valley, a half-timbered village with the Holy Cross Church and a excellently preserved village center. If you want to puzzle along the way: In the vineyards near Diefenbach lies the Kraichgau Escape puzzle trail. You then walk back to Sternenfels along the ridge above the vineyards.

You can stop for refreshments in Diefenbach at the Speisekammer, a café with a living room atmosphere, or at the Weingut und Weinstube Häußermann winery and wine tavern. In Sternenfels, the bakery and the Sternle at the Schlossbergturm are worth a visit (check opening hours in advance). You can reach the "Sternenfels Rathaus" bus stop with bus lines 702 and 902. Alternatively, start at the "Diefenbach Mitte" bus stop, which is also directly on the route and served by buses 700, 702, 706, and 902. Keep an eye on the timetable, as buses run less frequently on weekends.

Füllmenbacher Hof Youth Hostel

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Füllmenbacher Hof hiking lodge originated from a forest worker settlement, one house of which was made available to the Schwäbischer Albverein for use in 1968. The cozily furnished hiking lodge is located in a secluded valley by a pond, surrounded by forests and meadows. Slightly west of the lodge, the three Stromberg ridges meet. The Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park is predominantly a deciduous forest area with meadow valleys and vineyards. The nearby and wider surroundings offer diverse hiking opportunities. Families, children, and young people will feel at home here.

The Naturkost Café, also known as Die Speisekammer, is a charming café with French flair and a living room feel. May 15, 2022,15.05.2022 Von Sternenfels nach Diefenbach und zum Schlossbergturm
Sunday afternoon lap on Stromberg from last week.

We started at the hiking car park under the Schlossberg in Sternenfels and over to nearby Diefenbach with its pretty half-timbered houses.
From there up to the vineyards at Diefenbacher König and on to the idyllic Füllmenbacher Hof in the forest behind.
The subsequent way back then again on a wide forest …

Today was all about almond blossoms 🌸🌸🌸 again, but not in the Palatinate, but in the opposite direction where I've only done one tour so far, namely the Maulbronn Monastery 🕍. So I started at the Wander 🅿️ Sternenfels with a small climb of about one km over the Schlossberg ⛰️and the tower🗼, partly a bit muddy, before continuing well …

Great spring weather and a super almond blossom, 15 km and 13 who were there. A successful day even with 2 km for free.

Up and down through the vineyards, oh, that was refreshing 🙌🏻...finished with a wine spritzer. A super nice location with a rotating selection of food trucks. ASiSi ❤️
