Hiking
Wallonia is famous for the countless castles and palaces - some of them even today in excellent condition. On this tour you will hike through the valley of the Lesse, a tributary of the Meuse, and on the way visit two perfectly preserved castles.
Starting point of your hike is the trail parking lot at the station Gendron-Celles. From here follow the course of the Lesse, which has cut in wide arcs deep into the slate and limestone slabs of the Ardennes. Soon you can admire a particularly beautiful rock formation on the opposite bank: the "Aiguilles de Chaleux". Twice you cross the river on narrow bridges, before you see the castle Walzin high above the valley. The castle is still inhabited today and can only be visited from the outside. Afterwards it goes uphill and with beautiful views of the valley to the next castle - the fairy tale castle Vêves is also open to visitors and can be visited. From Vêves, it is only a short distance to the starting point of the hike.
