After the early morning shift, a great walk around the Dreienberg, the northernmost mountain in the Rhön.💚🌞🥾
We counted more than 15 benches and took fun photos on most of them. And then the tree trunk above the hiking trail provided a nice opportunity for a little climbing adventure. 🥳 A nice little hike on the way back.
Starting point: Dreienberg hiking car park, 36289 Friedewald-Lautenhausen. 8 km long, this circular trail leads along very easy and pleasant paths along the slope of the Dreienberg, which rises not far from Friedewald and is the northernmost mountain in the Rhön. Here you can discover unusually diverse and impressive forest images in one of the largest core zones of the UNESCO biosphere reserve Rhön - the forest is allowed to develop undisturbed here and become real wilderness. The Extratour Dreienberg is a relaxed, harmonious round through shady forest, from the edges of which there are always picturesque views in all directions. Well-placed benches and loungers invite you to linger and enjoy. The view stretches over blooming calcareous grassland in the foreground, a small-scale structured, wooded and hedge-rich field in the middle distance to the distinctive peaks of the Rhön in the distance.
At first, I thought, oh dear, this is getting monotonous. A wide path leads around the Dreienberg. The beech trees are so dense and tall here, you can't see the forest for the trees. And so you quickly begin to think that the journey itself would be the greatest adventure. That's when you get a surprise. The density of the benches, the views stretching into the Rhön Mountains, the information boards, and the flora are all impressive. I haven't seen real quaking grass in a long time. The last stretch finally leads along a narrow path. Here, everything is blooming, buzzing, and smelling – just like in the Allgäu.
🥾 Dreienberg Extra Tour – A Little Hiking Gem with a Panoramic View The Dreienberg Extra Tour leads along the edge of the forest on varied paths and trails around the mountain of the same name. 👣🌳 Magnificent views of the surrounding rolling volcanic hills open up again and again – ideal for taking a deep breath and pausing. 😌🌄 A beautiful little hike, perfect for relaxing and unwinding. A small but wonderful hiking gem. 🥾⚪️🥾 So, as always: Start, slow down, and enjoy. 😇
Hello @Deleted User, the tour is easy to walk and takes you around the Dreienberg. It's more of a "connoisseur's tour" and you can walk easily on forest paths without much effort. There are great views, lots of information boards and even nicer loungers here and there. It's definitely nice in spring too, there's a part with limestone grassland where you can admire various rare plants.🌸🌱🙂.
The Dreienberg near Friedewald is located in the heart of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and offers impressive forest landscapes and beautiful views of the surrounding villages. The 8.3-kilometer tour leads around the mountain and is marked with a red "D." On the Dreienberg, the forest reveals itself at its most beautiful: Here, it can grow undisturbed and flourish into an impressive wilderness. But the forest, with its invigorating atmosphere, is not the only defining element of this extra tour. The so-called calcareous grasslands are also part of the vegetation and a typical meadow type in the Rhön. They are characterized by their diversity of species and flowers and are therefore protected. Before the tour ends at the parking lot, wonderful distant views of the Kuppenrhön open up as a farewell.
