No question, for wine connoisseurs Hofgut Westerhaus is the absolute highlight on the Hiwweltour Westerberg. After all, it regularly lands on the top 100 list of German wineries and is also one of the 1000 best wineries worldwide. By prior arrangement, you can also plan a wine tasting on your hike. If on your walks next to the nature of wines play a minor role, you will be pleased on this tour especially on the romantic Selztal and the beautiful views over Rheinhessen.
The Hiwweltour begins on the banks of the Selz on the edge of the village Großwinterheim. From here it goes flat along the shore and through the natural Selztal. If you like, you can also make a detour to Schwabenheim here. Shortly thereafter, you leave the Selz and begin your climb to Westerberg.
First you wander through vineyards and then along the edge of a rustic mixed forest. On the Westerberg plateau you will also find the romantic Westerhaus Castle. In the further course of the tour, you will hike through historic, centuries-old sunken roads, until it returns to the starting point on the edge of colorful fields.

If the Hiwwel ruff works, so does the Hiwwel widder runner. ⛰️
On the way back into the valley past many horse paddocks, the Selzbach accompanies you back to your destination.

There was more forest and above all much more sun than expected 🌞🌞🌞
At the end there was a nice glass of wine and a delicious snack in the Eulenmühle - what more could you ask for 😁

A relaxed walk in less than three hours through the Selztal. We started at the Groß-Winternheim sports field and then walked towards Schwabenheim. On the way you could enjoy well-chilled wine and secco twice, which was provided for self-service by wineries. The tour is not particularly strenuous and
