This family-friendly round tour takes you and your children along the Schluchsee. The dark blue Schluchsee, the largest lake in the Black Forest, is also a popular water sports center and has been one of the cleanest bathing lakes in Germany for years. It starts at the Schluchsee train station, which is already located directly on the lake shore. On the Kohlgrubenweg you cycle through the forest to Seebrugg and then the tour takes you over the impressive dam of the Schluchsee.

The following section between forest and water is really fantastic and invites you to stop again and again. A stop at the traditional Unterkrummenhof or a short dip in the lake is a must. On the north bank you pass the idyllic Schluchsee pond and then you cycle through Aha - that's really the name of the place. A slightly elevated cycle path takes you back to the starting point with a view of the lake.

The level of the original Schluchsee was around 30 meters below the level of today's lake. It only came into being in its current form through the construction of the dam, which was completed in 1932. Since then, Schluchsee has been the highest dam lake in Germany.

It is also the upper basin of the Häuser pumped storage plant, which in turn is part of the Schluchsee plant group, a sequence of reservoirs between Hausen and Waldshut, which are connected by pumping stations.
