The blue mountain bike loop in the Dune Belt leads you in just under 18 kilometers over beautiful trails, forest and field roads. The steep edge of the Kempisch Plateau provides a challenge in Opitter in the form of some climbing. This area is popularly referred to as 'Little Switzerland', all thanks to the beautiful hilly landscape.
The long straight Geuzenbaan, which you walk along the way, owes its name to the passage of William of Orange and his Geuzen in 1536 at the start of the Eighty Years' War. They would have loved to watch if you suddenly passed by on your mountain bike.
The Blue Dune Belt loop connects to: Maaseik Red and Green Dune Belt. Starting points for this loop are: Orshof in Neerglabbeek and the Pollismolen in Bree.

I enjoyed this one more than I expected. There was less mud than anticipated. And bike park Maaseik was better maintained than I thought. Unfortunately some of the nice steep descents are completely overgrown. No trail left. But the rest was riding very nicely. They added a small drop where you could roll into a steep descent before. A very nice addition!
