Hiking
The barrier-free Wilder Kermeter nature experience area with its Wilder Weg trail is a real highlight in the Eifel National Park – and word has certainly spread!
Please note that the Wilder Kermeter is often very busy, especially on weekends, during school holidays, and generally when the weather is nice. If you prefer a quieter experience, choose a different time for your visit.
We recommend traveling by public transport. This saves you the hassle of searching for a parking space if the parking lot is overcrowded on busy days. 🚗🚗🚗
🚌 Public transport tip:
Lines 231, 814, and Mäxchen will take you to the Kermeter and stop at the "Wilder Kermeter" stop.
✨ On Sundays and public holidays (from June 15th to All Saints' Day), the KermeterShuttle (814) runs from Kall train station via "Wilder Kermeter" to the Urfttalsperre/Haftenbach stop, and in between, a shuttle service runs between the Urfttalsperre/Haftenbach and Wilder Kermeter stops. (Timetable information: www.vrs.de)
Combine your visit to the Wilder Weg with an entertaining hike down narrow paths to the Urft Dam, followed by a bus ride back to the Wilder Kermeter! 🍃
🥪☕ By the way, there's a place to stop for a break right next to the dam – a wonderful view of the Urft Dam is included for free. 😉

It seems the best course of action is to play it safe for the next few days.

📍 Location: Eifel National Park, Germany
🚶♂️ Distance: 7 km
🌦️ Weather: Rainy, but heartwarming
🗣️ Voice-over / description:
What a day.
Morning coffee. In the car. No plan. Just… drive.
Past Antwerp. Towards Maastricht.
And then – why not just continue to Germany?

There are enough benches and loungers on the tour.👍

After we spent 10 days walking, climbing or crawling on all fours in the southern Eifel and our vacation is over, we are starting today at home with a short hike in the Rureifel.
The Rureifel is in the northern part of the West Eifel in the Düren district, Euskirchen district and the Aachen city region.
