The prestigious Col du Mont Cenis marked the border between France and Italy until 1947. The tour takes you to the 2,000 meter high pass, where the picturesque view of the Lac du Mont Cenis reservoir awaits.
It starts in Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis, here you can stock up on your provisions and fill up with enough water. Now you start with the ascent, which is constant and never too steep for ten kilometers in six large serpentines.
Once at the pass, the tour takes you along the picturesque reservoir, the banks of which are easily accessible and invite you to take a long break. After cycling up the kilometers and with a view of the bright colors of the lake, your energy bar tastes really good.
The last part runs with a gentle slope that you will hardly feel after the long climb. Passing the Petit Mont Cenis, the tour ends in front of a rustic farmhouse, where you can buy regional mountain cheese. Not far away is the "Refuge du Petit Mont Cenis", where you can spend the night for a small amount.
