Hiking
This nearly ten-kilometer hike follows the Weser River and around the lakes of the Altteich Costedt nature reserve. But it's not just the river and the lakes that await you on your journey: On the edge of the Mittlerer See (Middle Lake) – that's actually its name, by the way – the Rothenhoff manor has stood for centuries. That's why the hiking trail you'll be following today is called "Around the Manor."
The property was first mentioned in 1230 and has since passed through the hands of various owners, some famous, some less so. You should definitely pay a visit to the historic estate along your route.
Otherwise, this tour offers a day filled with the sound of the Weser, the fresh air of the nature reserve, and perhaps even a dip in the cool water. At the Grosser Weserbogen (Great Weser Bend), there's a campsite with an adjoining swimming lake, which is also open to day trippers.
The start and finish point of the hike is the parking lot on the "Zum Südlichen See" road. For the circular tour, you'll want to bring your swimwear and perhaps binoculars, as there are plenty of animals to observe in this watery nature reserve. There are also several places where you can refuel with a cold drink or a high-energy meal.

It's also wonderful to always walk along the Weser.

However, you have the opportunity to go straight to the water via small paths from time to time, so that the dog can also drink.
The rain surprised us a few times, but luckily we were always able to shelter ... ☔️

At the wooded area near Costet, we met a few hunters who were gathering their kills. Wild boar, deer, fox, coypu, and a raccoon were among the animals taken today. We had some very interesting conversations with two of the hunters.

But it was a great round, lots of nature, few people, lots of cranes, lots of aircraft (kites, gliders, paragliders, sport planes), lots of water.
