The monastery rock path is not named by chance. In addition to the Princely Park Inzigkofen with monastery, Amalienfelsen, suspension bridge and the legendary Devil's Bridge over the Höll Gorge, there are numerous rock formations to marvel at that can be found all over the landscape. Again and again you can catch beautiful views of the picturesque floodplain landscape of the Danube, which is a constant companion on the first half of the circular tour.
Today we went on a promising autumn hike from the parking lot of the Sigmaringen / Laiz gymnasium in the beautiful Danube valley. The view from the Amalienfelsen, the broken Gutenstein, the gypsy rock and the erratic block. In addition, highlights such as the Inzigkofen monastery, the Inzighofener grottoes or the Teufelsbrücke, which know how to shine in the autumn light. A hike that is well signposted and recommended.
Highly recommended, but not on May 1st. There was a lot going on.
We started our day tour at the "Alte Donau" hiking car park. This is relatively small. Approx. 600m further is the parking lot at the gym in Laiz. The hike first ran on the left side of the direction of flow of the Danube. In Laiz we crossed it and now we continued on the other side against the direction of flow to the Amalienfelsen📷. From here you have a wonderful view of the Danube and the suspension bridge. Now the descent to the Danube followed. The next highlight is the Devil's Bridge. The further way went through a rock breakthrough, along the rock face to the vantage point Känzele📷. We follow the marked path to the Inzigkofer Grottoes. From there you descend to the former Inzigkofen train station. There is no longer a train stop there. We cross the L277 (Sigmaringen-Tuttlingen) to the ascent ruin broken Gutenstein. From here you have a wonderful view of the Danube valley. It goes along the Schmiecha to the gypsy rock with a barbecue area. Past the erratic block follows the last highlight of the split rock. Now for the last time you have a clear view of the Danube with its Danube valley and the Teufelsbrücke 📷. From now on it goes downhill and back to the starting point.

Today I was with my better half on the way to the Danube Valley, which I always wanted to hike. We start on the Danube in Laiz at the parking lot of the gym and don't take our eyes off the river at first. Along the dike wall on the way to Inzigkofen, we follow the turn-off to the Amalienfelsen. This is where the fantastic hike through the seemingly untouched nature of the Danube valley begins. An angler in the middle of the Danube loop - the majestic Amalienfelsen - the suspension bridge - this feeling through the Princely Park Inzigkofen is unique and around every bend, especially in today's fog, a new view of the Danube awaited us. Continuing across the Steinwiese we come to the Inzigkofen monastery. Passing the old monastery walls, we continue to the legendary Devil's Bridge over the Höll Gorge. There are numerous rock formations to admire that can be found throughout the landscape. Again and again you catch beautiful views of the picturesque meadow landscape of the Danube, which is a constant companion on the first half of the round trip. Through the Inzigkofer grottos you can see past forces of nature and experience beautiful insights. Through the Schmeiental, past the former train station and the gypsy rock, you get back to the car along the Schmeie. A breathtaking round that is particularly impressive, especially in the first half. The autumn foggy weather gave this tour a special impression, precisely because you can enjoy the peace and quiet and also be alone at the otherwise overcrowded hotspots.
Yes, and our second day on the Danube in a smaller group was also uniquely beautiful. Patrick chose very well, because the impressions were varied - Danube - views from the rocks - views of grottos - bridges with a rocking effect :-)) During the two days, we also engaged some unknown Komoot friends in friendly conversations :-))

The monastery rock path has been accessible and open again since October 16, 2023. The area around “Gebrochen Gutenstein” is still closed due to the extreme storm damage. A diversion has been set up.
The Princely Park in Inzigkofen is open and accessible.
