After the much too long hibernation, we finally went on a little hike again today. Since I wanted at least a few meters of altitude, I chose the Paderborner Höhenweg. A very good choice, as it turned out. It really took me the first 3 kilometers to get going again, but then I ran like clockwork ;-) The path was really great, a lot of pleasant forest paths to walk (well, due to the weather there was a lot of muddy goo, but that doesn't matter). Lots of great views and some highlights, like the tree house, the two-legged beech and of course the small viaduct. On the way there were also "hair ice" to be discovered in some places, I had never seen that before and had to find out what it was first. The climbs were all moderate and easy to walk, as were the descents. Part of the way also goes over the viaduct trail, which is also beautiful. An all-round successful "reintegration hike" in the best weather.
Great signage, wonderful forest paths, full sun with 21 degrees 🌞😁.. clear recommendation 👌
The classic on a wonderful Sunday in October!
The "Paderborner Höhenweg" has been on my list for a long time! 😊🤗 Finally done, but the path itself is rather unspectacular for me apart from a few passages... 😉 Instead, a bright blue sky, bright autumn leaves and a little snow cap as the icing on the cake!!! 😍😃 Simply beautiful! ☺️
The early Wandervogel also starts on Sunday mornings at eight o'clock...😴 Today it was the turn of the Paderborner Höhenweg. It started at the official starting point in Neuenbeken at the mission house. The forest trail was uphill for the first time, but very moderate. In general, the way surprised me in this respect. The climbs looked so rough in the elevation profile, but since they stretched over long distances, you hardly felt them. Only after the small viaduct did it get a little steeper uphill. But there was (in my opinion) a section that was a bit long, namely the way into and through the valley after the first ascent. But since this section (like the whole tour) is a dream in terms of nature and landscape, it didn't really bother me. The fact that there is a real summit cross with a summit book here in Paderborner Land is of course something very special! Everything is included in the paths: asphalt, hiking trail, forest path, root path and field and meadow path. I also found two geocaches, both without even looking for them. Nice too 😂 All in all a successful day trip!
A little birthday walk on the Paderborner Höhenweg in the most beautiful weather! ☀️😍🥾 This really great quality hiking trail leads over the highest point in Paderborn, along the Altenbeken viaduct, through wonderfully shady beech forests and past beautiful views! You actually hardly notice the 460 meters of elevation on the entire route and yet there are plenty of benches for breaks! 🥰 Unfortunately, and this is something we have to criticize about the official hiking trail, the signage is very misleading in some places. You can find countless versions and options online, so anyone who has already done the tour will end up with different distances... 🤨 Supposedly it is around 21.5 km. It was only after 30 minutes that we realized that we had a completely different starting point than recommended... That's why our start and end are not officially part of the Paderborner Höhenweg - and that's how we came up with our almost 23 km! ☝🏼 Actually pretty cool: You can collect eight letter and number combinations while walking, so you can get a certificate and a pin for the route. However, unlike the normal hiking trail signs, these rating signs are only placed in one direction, namely clockwise. Too bad, we only discovered two and that by chance.. 🙂↔️ Still, all in all a really successful tour! ✊🏼☺️
The Paderborn Höhenweg meanders through beech and spruce forests, past cattle pastures and up to beautiful viewpoints. Most of the time it is on pleasantly walkable forest paths, only rarely on asphalt. The Höhenweg is rightly certified as a "Quality Trail for Hikers in Germany". Tour Info: https://www.paderborn.de/sport-freizeit/aktiv-freizeit/paderborner-hoehenweg.php The signs for the scoring sheet can only be found if you walk the tour clockwise.
