A hiking greeting from my wife from the beloved Swabian Alb. And as so often before, she (or we together) hiked one of the most beautiful hiking trails we know at the earliest dawn. Tour information: https://www.wanderinstitut.de/premiumwege/baden-wuerttemberg/zollernburg-panorama/ https://www.outdooractive.com/de/route/wandern/schwaebische-alb/traufgang-zollernburg-panorama-in-albstadt/1561121/
Right off the bat: the woman wasn't there today, so it's only half as nice. 🥹 Then such a hike will be more of a sporty affair. 😅 And the dog liked it too. The eaves have done it to us anyway. We've gone there several times. But this time we have optimized. And the running direction. And I'll explain why: After a third of the way you leave the gravel paths and only return occasionally and for short distances. From there you stay 80% on paths and meadow paths. Magnificent paths along the Albtrauf. And you can't get enough of the numerous views of the imposing Zollern. And the famous view from the Zeller Horn directly onto the nearby Zollern Castle is almost exactly 2/3 of the way. From there a little further and you can stop off at the Zollersteighof and then it's not even 4 km to the starting point. And only on paths. AND at the end you go down a really steep stretch and not straight up at the beginning. The end in particular is our favorite track. So have fun trying it out. Almost forgot: I still integrated the black hand. I think that has to be part of it. A spooky and at the same time magical place. Definitely an experience.
Despite 3 degrees Celsius and a persistently icy wind, we set off directly from the hotel on the panoramic tour, and it lived up to its promise. Beautiful views of the valley and the majestic Hohenzollern Castle were constantly on offer. At the Nägelehaus hiking lodge, we were treated to a hot soup to warm us up.
Start and finish was at our apartment. But there are enough parking spaces for hikers along the Taufgang route.
When we arrived at the parking lot, it was raining, and it would take another three hours. After a quick thought, I put on my hiking boots. Perfect, because the rain let up immediately. The roots uphill were very slippery in places, the sun was shining through, and the view was wonderful. Everything was done right 😍
The loop from Hangender Stein to Höhengasthof Wanderheim Nägelehaus can confidently be shortened.
Mega hike - There's not much more to say: Today we went on the Traufgang, or more precisely on to the Zollernburg panorama from the Stich car park. The whole route was a dream, either along the Albtrauf over root paths through the pine forests or later on meadow paths through the juniper heath. There were many viewpoints from rocks or later from the Raichberg tower. The view from the Zeller Horn of Hohenzollern Castle in front of it in the sunshine was fantastic, of course! We also used some comfortable loungers and benches on the Hangender Stein and the other viewing rocks to chill out - and all of this in pleasantly cool temperatures despite the sunshine. It was another perfect day of hiking and an absolutely beautiful tour that I would repeat!
Currently, tree felling work is taking place on the way back from Zeller Horn, therefore a small detour to Zollersteighof is necessary.
