Hiking

Impressive gorges, magical forests, clear spring water and spectacular views. The "Sieben-Täler-Rund" between the Rottenburg villages of Bad Niedernau, Weiler and Schwalldorf is the perfect premium hiking trail for real adventurers.

The approximately six kilometer long hike starts at the parking lot at the Kurpark in Bad Niedernau. You first hike through the beautifully designed park and then start to climb the historic Schlösslesberg. Once at the top, you suddenly find yourself in an open field with wonderful views of the Swabian Alb.

Then the next highlights await you: Past the Sieben-Täler-Höhle you make your way towards Katzenbachtal. You hike through the valley along the gently babbling brook and then follow the path up towards Schwalldorf. This is where the wildly romantic Wolfsschlucht begins. In any case, sure-footedness is mandatory for crossing it - a truly unforgettable experience beckons. Then you descend back into the Katzenbachtal and hike back to your starting point.

Tip: If the tour through the Wolfschlucht is too adventurous for you, you can also bypass this section via the Katzenbachtal.

View of Weilerburg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Very nice view of the hamlet castle, so that the experienced hiker knows and fears what is still to come. :-)

Katzenbach Valley

Highlight • Gorge

The Katzenbachtal is a particularly beautiful section of the Früchtetrauf premium trail "Seven Valleys Round". The stream follows the path and is so shallow in several places that you can easily get in and splash around in the water.

Seven Valleys Cave

Highlight • Cave

The cave lies at the foot of a rock face and is a natural monument. In winter a few bats live here. Armed with a helmet and a flashlight, you can go a little way into the narrow cave. Nothing for people with claustrophobia!

Wolf Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

The Wolfsschlucht is a highlight on the Früchtetrauf premium trail “Seven Valleys Circuit”. The sometimes steep, narrow path leads over the gorge and along imposing rocks into the valley. Those who are less able to walk should avoid the gorge and follow the path through the valley.

February 3, 2024,🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏽‍♂️💧Bad Niedernau - 7 Täler Runde
This is the third time we have walked this route and it is always beautiful. You can also buy honey along the way in Katzenbachtal. The Wolfsschlucht is wildly romantic and always an adventure. The Römerquelle hasn't been running for a few years, but the company has installed a drinks vending machine there.

...you have to go through 7 valleys...

No, not quite - today we went from the Kurhaus car park in Bad Niedernau for a short tour through beautiful landscapes. First a little uphill you come to the Römerquelle, the water of which is no longer flowing at the moment and has been turned off - a pity! Would certainly have …

A beautiful and leisurely round near Rottenburg: along the Katzenbach, past a ruin and through beautiful spring forest and flowering meadows to the Sieben-Täler-Höhle, which you can also walk on. Tadpoles and water snails can be observed in the spa park pond.

On today's day, we undertook a double hike:

In the morning, the path led us to Rottenburg am Neckar to the varied premium hiking trail "Sieben-Täler-Runde" on the Früchtetrauf.

On the edge of the Swabian Jura, the quiet, varied loop guided us on beautiful forest paths through idyllic valleys, past caves, dense forests and an impressive gorge, and offers a …

Nice herb hike with my girlfriend along the premium trail
“Seven valleys round” with lots of berries (sloes and hawthorn), collecting, smelling and tasting herbs (wild fennel, coriander and dill) and lots of fun. 🌻
The path through the Wolfsschlucht leads over roots and stone steps to the source of the "Römerquelle".
Unfortunately the health clinic in Bad Niedernau is …
