Today the route was pretty boring. It almost always went on small and large streets through many ailing places and industrial areas, which mostly lacked charm. But that's the way pilgrims are sometimes too.
But Lucca should have a beautiful old town.

This stage was actually better than I anticipated it would be after reading poor reviews! It was just nice to be out walking again. Even if it was down a sidewalk most of the time. I didn't feel in danger from the cars at all due to skinny roads and such. This pleased me.

I advise against doing this stage because there are practically 20 km of asphalt in the middle of warehouses and provincial roads ... Start from Altopascio or better still from San Miniato 😉
