Road cycling

This is one of the classic routes, a favorite among Barcelona cyclists. The itinerary brings together some of the most representative landscapes of the city and its surroundings: the Mediterranean, urban cycle paths, mountain roads, and magnificent views over the coast and the Collserola mountain range. Although it includes some steep climbs, the route is suitable for less experienced cyclists, as they do not pose an excessive challenge.

The route starts in Vila Olímpica and continues towards Port Vell, from where the ascent begins through streets and cycle paths to the upper part of the city. Upon reaching the Tibidabo funicular station, the ramps of the Carretera de la Arrabassada begin, winding up the slope of Collserola. At the summit, next to the entrance to the amusement park, the descent towards Sant Cugat del Vallès begins, passing through a surprisingly tranquil wooded area. If you fancy a break, the town offers numerous options for refreshments, although you can also continue to Cerdanyola del Vallès.

From Cerdanyola, the final climb back to Barcelona starts; it takes you along an even more solitary road with unexpected views over the city and the mountains. Once back in the urban environment, there is only a short but intense ascent to Carmel Park before the final descent to the coast, where a seaside terrace is the best place to round off the route.

In front of the funicular station, there is a space from which you can contemplate Barcelona from the heights. The city's profile stands out against the Mediterranean and creates a spectacular panorama that is worth enjoying calmly.

Sant Cugat - Cerdanyola Road

Highlight • Cycleway

Very pleasant stretch for cycling between Sant Cugat and Cerdanyola. It is widely used by local cyclists as it is a stretch with 2 lanes in each direction, and it allows connecting the ascents of Tibidabo with that of Forat del Vent.
From Sant Cugat to Cerdanyola it is downhill. In the opposite direction, there are 2 small climbs that add a bit of spice.
