View of the Schluchsee from the Bildstein

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Bildstein is one of the best panoramic mountains in the entire Black Forest. From its rocky peak you can enjoy an incomparable panorama, because from no other peak can you admire the Schluchsee in its entirety.

August 14, 2024,Schluchtensteig 4.Etappe von Lenzkirch nach Sankt Blasien
Unfortunately, the fourth stage is largely on "forest highways"... only the last 2 km before Sankt Blasien have features that do justice to the name Schluchtensteig.

You can also leave this tour, almost 90% of the way has gravel or tar, only the beginning with the huge view and at the end the waterfall inspired me.

Today I did stage 4. It was an uneventful stage with no highlights. Only the waterfall just outside of St. Blasien is nice to look at. Otherwise it was a "recovery stage". Unfortunately I did get caught in the rain. But rain gear helps... and water doesn't hurt.

The 4th stage leads almost exclusively past pastures and through fir forest. The Schluchsee and the Windberg Gorge offer variety. A short detour to the Bildstein at the beginning of the tour is recommended, the view is unbeatable.

Nice stage of the Schluchtensteig, but it is always advisable to look at the signs, some paths that are indicated in Komoot are difficult or impossible to walk on.

Meadows, hills, some forest, beautiful old farmhouses and cows dominated the picture. There are uphill sections and after 2 km I reached the turnoff to the Bildsteinfelsen. I reached the summit via a small rocky path, with …

The tour begins beautifully, with an almost complete view of the Schluchsee. After descending to the lake, walk along the shore on wide gravel paths to the beautiful Vesperstube Unterkrummenhof. There you can also swim wonderfully in the lake at a small beach.
Unfortunately, the rest of the route in the direction of St. Blasien runs almost exclusively on gravel …

At the Schluchsee, the largest lake in the Black Forest, we first walked 3 km along the lakeshore path. Then the Schluchtensteig plunged back into dense forests. Ferns, mosses, and blueberry bushes lined our path. A few old Black Forest houses stand between Obere and Untere Habsberg. Shortly before St. Blasien, we canyon lovers got our money's worth. Over a …
