Hiking

This demanding tour over several peaks will demand a lot from you. You have to overcome a considerable amount of altitude and some alpine passages, all against a dreamlike Black Forest backdrop. You start at Sägplatz in Simonswald and follow the stream up to Werlehofmühle. Here the path becomes narrower and climbs steeply uphill in serpentines. At the Höllkopffelsen, you have already completed most of the ascent and look far over the valley.

Over a rocky ridge path, partly interspersed with roots, you scramble over the peaks of Höllkopf, Schultiskopf, and Obereck (highest point). The partly quite steep passages demand your full attention here. Then follows the descent along the babbling brook to Kostgefäll, where you can rest in the soft grass.

With a view of the Kandel, you start the second section. You continue over the Tafelbühl with its beautiful view to the Hörnleberg with its chapel and then back down towards Simonswald. Once you arrive at the bottom, you have more than earned a stop at one of the numerous inns in Simonswald.

Directly from Simonswald, only just under 1,000 meters of altitude and a challenging ascent separate you from the Schultiskopf. The reward is received on-site and along the way, in the form of a magnificent view over the Zwei-Täler-Land or via the wonderful ridge trail from the Höllkopf.

There are two starting points for paragliders here. Coming from the Dorerbühl-Hütte, the first points south over Simonswald and the second, at the Unter dem Tafelbühl position, heads west over Winden im Enztal.

At both positions, you can also simply enjoy the wonderful view.

Komoot recommends dividing the tour into two to three days, I read with surprise.
“Oh no, I have two four-legged, fit friends who pull me up everywhere!” I think to myself. “We can do it in an afternoon.”
And this afternoon needs to be used, because the sun is finally shining again after the last few days were just a …

October 24, 2021,Gipfel-Tour Simonswald
In the area between Elztal and Simonswäldertal I wanted to hike again for a while and today it worked in the most beautiful autumn weather. The starting point of the signposted summit tour is the car park in Simonswald at Sägplatz. From there he walked a little through inhabited area and then gently uphill on narrow paths. Then the actual …

First on a beautiful trail, then on a wide gravel path, the path leads past the Wehrlehof steeply up. Then, without a sign, a rooty, rocky path branches off to the left, which leads over the Höllkopffelsen (nice view), the Höllkopf (no prospects) and as a very nice ridge path over the Schultiskopf.
It goes up steeply.... and up.... and …

Always a fantastic tour that leads very steeply uphill from the Gummeneck.
Once you reach the mountain ridge, you take an alpine path over several 1000 m peaks such as Höllkopf, Schultiskopf, Ibichkopf, where absolute surefootedness is sometimes required. It continues through the Kostgefäll nature reserve where several streams rush down. Along high pastures, you go up to Tafelbühl and …

Hi everyone,

This morning I didn't think this would be such a strenuous hike. My plan was actually to get closer to my goal for total elevation gain this year ⛰️ 🤣.

So I took a longer drive and stopped in Simonswald. If you don't know it, you should sign up for the Black Forest Ultra March 🤪😇.

An ultimately beautiful tour..
80% single trails..

The first time I wished I had pepper spray.
On the Rohardsberg I met a man who made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
I walked past him quickly, pretending to be on the phone with someone I was about to meet.
I felt distance.
My pulse went down, …
