The 45-kilometer circumnavigation of Plan de Corones is a challenge, even if the length given suggests otherwise. The long ascent to the Furkelpass is sometimes extremely steep and doing it in one go without a break shows good training. The feeling of having conquered the altitude difference and the fantastic views make up for the drops of sweat.

Starting from Brunico, it initially climbs evenly along the river Gader. After the quaint town of Enneberg Pfarre, switch to the SP 43, which takes you up to the Furkelpass. Arrived at 1,789 meters, you can take a break on the banks of the pond. Then the wonderfully winding descent into the Rienztal awaits you. You follow the river the last bit back to the starting point Brunico.

La Pli de Mareo

Highlight • Settlement

The small village of Enneberg Parish is idyllically situated on the steep, sunny slopes of the Enneberg Valley in the middle of the Dolomites. Discover many rustic farms where the Ladin farming culture is still alive. Tourism plays only a minor role here and so Enneberg Parish, in Ladin "La Pli de Mareo", is a real insider tip for gaining an insight into the authentic Ladin culture. Find out interesting facts about the production of typical South Tyrolean products such as bacon, honey or cheese. During a holiday on the farm you will be told about old farming rules, exciting stories and mythical Dolomite legends.

The old town center with the parish church, which is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God, is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in South Tyrol.

Furkel Pass (Passo Furcia)

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The pass road has it all, but is accompanied by the view of the one mega awesome! Little going on and above is the opportunity to stop. The descent to Olang is steep and technically demanding, as switchbacks follow a few times directly on steep tracks. The surface is ok, but has some potholes.

Brunico Historic Center

Highlight • Settlement

Bruneck is the only town in South Tyrol named after its founder, Prince-Bishop Bruno von Kirchberg. Located at the confluence of the Ahr and Rienz, Bruneck was first mentioned in documents in 1256 AD. Ideally located for holidaymakers in both summer and winter, the district of Reischach (940 to 990 metres) and behind it the Plan de Corones (2,275 metres), the northernmost peak of the Dolomites, are located near Bruneck.
