North of the city of Udine lies a cluster of municipalities connected by a system of irrigation ditches, artificial canals derived from rivers or springs that for centuries have regulated irrigation, powered mills and factories, and distributed water throughout the plains and foothills. In Friuli, especially north and east of Udine, irrigation ditches are as much a part of the historic landscape as roads and villages.
Following these canals, the route we propose passes through the villages of Reana del Rojale, Tavagnacco, and Pagnacco. It's a very leisurely tour, suitable for anyone capable of independent cycling. Although it's mostly on asphalt, we recommend a gravel bike for the unpaved sections.
Although the route starts in Rojale, you can also start directly from the city of Udine. Enjoy your ride!
