Our plan was to take the train from Wetzlar to Dillbrecht and from there take the Dill cycle path via Dillenburg, Herborn, Ehringshausen and Aßlar back to Wetzlar station.

Unfortunately we hadn't counted on the Hessian State Railway. At the station in Gießen we received the usual announcement:
.. train service cancelled .... !
