A highlight for me in terms of scenery and terrain. Starting with a view of Mount Brandon, I immediately ran into a badger. Shortly before the highest point of the trail, today there were a few more meters of elevation gain, the heavy rain began, with alternating wind directions. I was very grateful for my poles, as otherwise I would have been surely blown away while "skipping stones." During the descent, however, it soon calmed down again. Shortly before Brandon, it was dry and warm. It was a good thing I kept my rain pants on, because for the last hour, it poured down. Today, for the first time, no piece of clothing stayed dry; the wind was whipping, but only just. The rain cover on my backpack held up. Overall, it was a pleasant route; unfortunately, I couldn't take many photos due to wet hands.
Today we crossed Mount Brandon in the best weather. The climb was easier than we thought, and we went down on stones that were stacked like a staircase. That went very well because everything was dry. If it had been wet, it would have been slippery. The tour was very beautiful, but also exhausting with all the luggage☺️
Way: Over the mountains, typical footpaths on the east side with steps, quite good for the descent, then again wide and asphalted or gravel paths or beautiful footpaths over the pastures, short section on the beach, where the route deviates from the DW. Oh yes, again not a single bank and the section between KM13-15 is redundant. All the time just sheep, sheep, sheep. Today over the mountain times a few meters. People: A few more on the beach, otherwise very lonely and always the same.
Another great stage. Great weather, spectacular views and even a few meters of altitude. And of course camping behind the pub again. The highlight of the day, however, was the landlord of Murphys Pub in Brandon, who opened his pub, which was actually still closed, especially for me and saved my life with a cyclist 😉 I love the Irish...❤️🇨🇮
A beautiful hike, although of course strenuous in its incline. Fantastic weather, fantastic views - often just sheep and I 🙃 The tour around is also very easy to hike.
