View of Bergen

Highlight • Viewpoint

Founded in 1070, Bergen quickly became established as an important port and merchant city, and was the largest town in Norway until the 1830s. Trade in Bergen was mainly based on dried cod (stockfish) from Northern parts of Norway.

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great view over the city, especially in the evening against the sunset. Easily reached by a hike, but be prepared to be here with lots of people travelling up/down by train.

Rain capital of Norway - lived up to the name today 🌧️ Up the cogwheel train to Fløyen, it was still dry there - lucky for a few photos. But halfway down, torrential showers. The expedition jackets passed the test!

Lucky; the weather forecast was gruesome, but then the ascent on the Floyen was possible without any rain and when at the top even the sun shone 🤗

Stroll through Bergen and take the cable car up to get an overview. It's easy to walk down. Finally via small hidden stairs.

Tour through Bergen. We took the train up to Fløyen. We rented a SUP on a small lake there. The Bryggen Museum is highly recommended. Went back into the city later in the evening, which is why some of the photos are not on the tour.

We were on the way to Bergen, the last place on our tour. According to the weather report, there shouldn't be a bright blue sky for the first time on our vacation the next day. So we had planned the typical mountain hike from Floyen over the Vidda to Ulriken for today. But firstly it turns out differently and secondly than you think. In the morning we had spent almost three hours getting our rental car up and running again after a short break on the side of the road and so, when we arrived in Bergen, all that was left was the hike to Floyen, after we briefly passed through the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Bryggen Hanseatic Quarter , strolled. Very nice, too.

The uphill part was done by funicular but komoot was still recording.

Bergen, the second largest city in Norway (285,601 inhabitants) the gateway to the fjords with the most rainy days of a major city in Europe. On this round through the harbor and through Bryggen up to the Fløyberg you could enjoy wonderful views. Waterfalls, trolls, mountains and water and ⛈. So whoever is here should ☔ bring courage
