Hiking

The Grand Falls Gorge Trail loop offers a truly unique hiking experience, plunging you into a deep gorge carved by the Saint John River. You'll find yourself navigating a mix of gravel paths and paved sections, with the highlight being the descent via 401 steps that bring you right to the base of the impressive Grand Falls. Multiple viewpoints along the way, like the one beyond Centre La Rochelle, provide stunning perspectives of the powerful waterfall and the dramatic gorge, making it a visually rewarding journey.

This easy 1.9-mile (3.1 km) hike, with 259 feet (79 metres) of elevation gain, can be completed in about 53 minutes, making it ideal for a quick, impactful outing. The trail is well-maintained and easily accessible directly from Grand Falls, New Brunswick. It's a great option for families or anyone looking for a leisurely walk with a big scenic payoff, and amenities like picnic tables and washrooms are available.

What truly sets this trail apart is the Grand Falls itself, renowned as the largest waterfall east of Niagara Falls. The trail provides an intimate experience of this natural wonder, allowing you to appreciate its scale and power from various angles. It's a perfect stop if you're on a road trip through New Brunswick and want to experience a significant natural landmark without committing to a long, strenuous hike.
