Church of the Elm

Highlight • Religious Site

A large church built on the Olmo hill, overlooking the village of Cogollo. It was once the main place of worship before the new parish church was built a little further down the valley in the village square in the 20th century.

The stone staircase, the passage under the arch, and the cobblestone path, bordered by high walls, are particularly evocative. Another noteworthy feature are the two late-19th-century tombstones, recovered and hung on the side wall of the church, which testify to the existence of an adjacent cemetery.

Corno del Maradeto

Highlight • Summit

A panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Astico Valley, the surrounding mountains, and its opening onto the plain: from here, you can also clearly see the serpentine Costo di Asiago road, with cars traveling along it, and the disused Costo Vecchio. There's also an observatory from the Great War: the entire ridge is dotted with military structures from World War I.

It can be reached from the Sentiero delle Postazioni trail below via a short, exposed via ferrata or alternatively via trail 651.

Military Post (Post No. 8) WW1

Highlight • Historical Site

Italian military stronghold of the First World War, dug into the rock: continuation of the fortified line of the 'Sentiero delle Postazioni' (after the 6 posts + the Corno di Maradeto observatory) which from the valley floor rose along a ridge up to the Ledge for defense and surveillance of the Val d'Astico and the Arsiero basin.

Nice viewpoint.

The climb is quite challenging, it has exposed ledges, but a passage with a steel rope. Just be careful and do it dry.
