Wirtskeller Cellar

The so-called Wirtskeller (the innkeeper's cellar) was used as a pantry by the Presule inn as a place to store and store wine, speck and cheese, using a natural cooling system. Thanks to its location, the cellar soon became a popular resting place. Over the years, however, the building decayed and today only a few ruined walls remain. During the recent restoration of the "Sentiero dei masi" the walls were partially restored, making its function partially perceivable.

Jets of cold air actually emerge from the ravines of an ancient landslide. The phenomenon can be traced back to the chimney structure and the greater specific weight of the cold air which descends through it to lower altitudes, calling the hot air to the surface. This continuous flow generates a particular microclimate with temperatures of 12-15°C.

Fronthof Farmhouse (Pruidel)

Maso Fronthof is a listed historic building, the first evidence of which dates back to 1379. It looks back on a long tradition and is the largest stone farm on a ridge that has been preserved in South Tyrol. Under its Gothic-Romanesque barrel arches, judges once passed sentences of life or death. Majestic as a fortress, the farm stands there, where it was built around 1500 on behalf of the church. Numerous late Gothic architectural elements testify to a lively history.

Today this ancient farmhouse is an agritourism with apartments and restaurant service. The surrounding vineyards grow Sylvaner, Zweigelt and Pinot noir grapes, which are used to produce excellent own-brand wines. In the magnificent 18th century peasant stube or on the sunny terrace you can taste dishes made with products from the farm, in particular speck and meat from alpine gray cows.

From July to September it is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12-23.
