On this circular cycle tour through southern Emsland, you'll follow the meandering Ems River, which flows almost exclusively through glacial sands, and encounter historic buildings along the way. You start at Leschede train station, from where you'll cycle along quiet paths along the Ems. Near the town of Mehringen, you'll find Neolithic megalithic tombs, the so-called "Mehringer Steine."
You'll then reach Rheine through tree-lined avenues and past fields. A little later, you can stop in Spelle at the picturesque Venhaus Castle Park or at the romantic Wöhlehof farm. Continuing north, you'll rejoin the gently flowing Ems River, which will guide you back to your starting point.
