Hiking

Fancy a real summit that's also accessible for families? Then head up to Hochkar! A leisurely yet impressive tour for those who want to get high without the stress – varied, with great views, and just the right thing for an active day in the mountains.

The tour starts at the parking lot at the valley station of the Hochkarbahn cable car. From there, it's a relaxed walk towards Draxlerloch – perfect for getting going.

After crossing the cirque piste, the trail becomes more varied: The trail leads you across alpine meadows, small paths, and past mountain pines up to the Scheinecksattel at 1,529 meters. This is where the views really begin to shine.

The final section runs along the scenic, yet easy-to-walk ridge. Once you reach the Hochkar summit (1,808 meters), a 360-degree panorama awaits, as does the summit book, where you can sign your name before heading back down.

The Hochkar summit cross is definitely worth a visit. If you're not up for the climb, you can get there from the lift station on a fairly easy path. The view is wonderful, and if you're lucky, there won't be too many people at the summit. ;-) The summit book is in a container a bit away from the cross—even this is pretty to look at against the blue sky.
