Gravel riding

Val di Rezzalo is not conquered: it is crossed in silence, with respect. It is a valley suspended in time, sculpted by the hard work of the miners of Frontale, who have left deeper marks here than stone. Riding it in gravel means entering a story made of effort, roots, and wild landscapes.

Start from Bormio and follow the Valtellina cycle path, cycling alongside the Adda river until you reach the small village of Frontale. Here begins the real climb of Val di Rezzalo: the hairpin bends follow one another among larch trees and crystal-clear streams. The pace slows down, guided by the sound of gravel under the wheels and the breath of the mountain. You will find the Val di Rezzalo hut where you can have lunch or take a break. The path narrows, but at the top, at the Passo dell’Alpe, the landscape opens up in all its vastness.

The descent follows a dirt road hidden in the woods, parallel to the asphalt road but far from traffic. You return to Bormio almost without realizing it, crossing a final stretch that unites nature and civilization. And you take home the memory of a place that does not ask to be conquered, but simply experienced.

Passo dell'Alpe (2461 m)

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Passo dell'Alpe (2,461 m.s.l.m.) is one of the most beautiful off-road alpine passes that you will ever do. Reaching it is quite long but feasible with different types of fat-wheeled bicycles. The finish, climbing from Frontale, is steep.
