Hiking
This wonderful two-day hike begins with a special stage: You'll first glide across Lake Königssee by boat to St. Bartholomä. From there, you'll hike along the picturesque lakeshore and then climb through shady forests with stunning views of Lake Königssee and Lake Obersee. Passing the rushing Schrainbach Falls, you'll reach the idyllically situated Schrainbachalm pasture – the perfect place for a short rest. Then, the legendary Saugasse awaits with its 36 hairpin bends and 400 meters of elevation gain – a real challenge, but with every bend, you'll get closer to the destination. Once at the top, the walk continues at a much more relaxed pace to the Kärlingerhaus on the tranquil Lake Funtensee, the gateway to the Steinernes Meer – a fascinating, barren plateau with impressive expanses. After a good 16 kilometers, you'll reach the Ingolstäder Haus. A wonderful place to spend the night, provided you've reserved a place to sleep in advance.
The second day is a more leisurely affair: The stage to Hirschbichl is easy to manage. If you start early, you can take a detour to the Grosser Hundstod – a real highlight with fantastic views. Alternatively, a visit to the Kallbrunnalm, with its traditional huts scattered randomly across the green alpine meadows, is worthwhile. No matter what you choose, this tour offers nature, challenges, and plenty of unforgettable impressions. It ends in Hirschbichl, on the Austrian border. From here, the bus takes you towards Weißbach or Hintersee.
