Weneberger Alm – Unteralmhütte

This varied circular hike takes you from the Weneberger Alm to the Unteralmhütte. A full Alpine experience awaits you along the way – including a cheese dairy, a mountain lake, and a rustic stop for refreshments. In good weather, you'll enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Gailtal and Carnic Alps, as well as the Lienz Dolomites.

The trail starts at the Leppneralm. The trail climbs steeply right from the start. If you need some provisions, you can stop at the Ochsnerhütte alpine cheese dairy. The climb continues upwards – chances are you'll hear marmots whistling. Once you reach Lake Lamnitz, the climb is complete. Time for a break at the tranquil mountain lake.

As steep as the climb was, the descent is now just as steep. At the end of the descent, the Unteralmhütte awaits you, where you can fortify yourself with regional delicacies – including the best view. The last few kilometers lead you back to the starting point on a relatively flat route.
