This route was planned by komoot.
It was a fantastic loop, many great impressions. I haven't taken that many pictures on a tour in a long time. This loop gets 100 points from me. Our kids loved this tour too. I think it has even more flair in the summer.
A dream loop that deserves the name.. great rock formation in the Altlayer Schweiz, beautiful narrow paths down into theWärmelbachtal, the creek is dry as dust but nice to walk through there.. always great views, just a great little loop 👍
Simply fantastic. It starts from the hiking car park. In spring, a gorse inferno. Such wonderful paths, like in a fairytale. We barely made any progress. Gnarled oaks and huge rocks to climb on. A truly fantastic circular trail that takes time. Plan at least four hours, including breaks. You can sit anywhere. The section along the stream is amazing. Oh, just everything. Hunsrück is amazing
Oh, this small, short loop, it is so beautiful and we had a lot of fun 😍 After a few meters you are caught by the bizarre slate formations with a magnificent view. You should be careful when it is wet, as it gets really slippery😬. The narrow path down to the creek is littered with lichen and moss. Shortly before our rest, a touching Marian figure was under a ledge. 😋We strolled further along the small brook ❤️There was a small section of rock to overcome before climbing up the mountain again via steep stairs. Petra discovered some mushrooms with her eagle eye😁. At the end a wonderful meadow landscape was waiting for us. An all-round successful dream loop 👍👍. Since the way there took 1.5 hours, we hung the small, unspectacular Karrenberg dream loop on it😅
A relaxed little tour that my daughter chose. The great thing about it ☝🏻 it was my first hiking tour 2 years ago, which made me decide to take up hiking as a hobby.
Pleasant, well-marked trail. Also recommended in summer. At higher temperatures. The path leads almost entirely through deciduous forest. In the creek valley then probably pleasant.
I said to my sweetheart today: Of the Moselle, Rhine, Eifel, Lahn, and Hunsrück long-distance hiking trails (the latter will be completed this year), the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig is the one I would completely (i.e., all stages) hike again... And the Dream Loops in the Saar-Hunsrück region are (with very few exceptions) the "icing on the cake." We hiked this Dream Loop in 2019, before Komoot (so it doesn't count because it wasn't properly documented), and when we were able to hike a (too small) part of Altlay Switzerland again on the SHS stage from Altlay to Blankenrath https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/1294238820 the desire to do it again was awakened. The weather and time of year were rather suboptimal, but even so, the mossy rocks, narrow mountain paths, and especially the Hitzelbach Valley have their very own atmosphere and fascination. The fact that we were practically alone in the middle of it all contributed to that. This little loop (which shouldn't be underestimated, though) really has something to it, and I/we are definitely looking forward to doing it again this fall. ("Hunsrück-crazy" that we are.....) 🌲🌳🌲🥾👍🥾😊😍
I have now written a detailed blog post about this hike, which you can find here: https://www.saarfuchs.com/2025/02/wandermulti-traumschleife-altlayer-schweiz.html
