You start at the train station in Samedan, from where you ride along scenic trails towards the Bernina Pass. The climb is moderate, with only two steeper climbs briefly challenging your legs. In return, you'll experience natural beauty at its finest along the way: glacier views, alpine meadows – and, time and again, the railway line of the legendary Bernina Express by your side.
At around 2,200 meters, you reach the pass – and shortly after, Lago Bianco. You should definitely take a break at the Belvedere restaurant near Alp Grüm: the view of the Palü Glacier is magnificent, and the local food is simply delicious. Then the fun begins: the descent into the Poschiavo valley is technical and challenging, characterized by paved paths, gullies, and plenty of flow.
From Cavaglia, the famous Supertrail to Poschiavo awaits. Incredible views included, the Mediterranean climate palpable. The destination is the piazza in the center of town, where you can treat yourself to a gelato to round off the tour. The return journey is relaxing on the Rhaetian Railway. Those who haven't had enough can get off at the Ospizio Bernina and take the trail down to Samedan. Everyone else stays seated and takes the train back.

Comments
I enjoyed the tour so much back then, so I'm doing it again.
It was manageable for me up to Alp Grüm. Today, I went right past the reservoir and didn't take the official bike route 😂
From Alp Grüm onward, it gets technical, but I managed most of …
