Hiking
Impressive glacier landscapes and wild nature await you on this hike, which starts at Morteratsch Station. The Bernina Express, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stops here. From the station, you follow the rushing Ova da Morteratsch River uphill, enjoying unforgettable views of the surrounding mountains.
A wide gravel path leads you to a small wooden bridge at the foot of the Morteratsch Glacier. The river is fed by the glacier here, which is why it has a milky-blue color. The barren gravel slopes around you reveal the glacier's retreat over the past few decades. You then return the same way to the starting point at the station.

It's thought-provoking how much of the glacier has disappeared since then. 🫣
