Hiking

This leisurely circular hike combines pure enjoyment of nature with mindful moments and a bit of culture along the way. An easy yet atmospheric tour – ideal for a half-day and for discovering the tranquil beauty of Lake Pillersee.

Starting from the village center in St. Ulrich am Pillersee, you'll be taken out into nature and immersed in the panoramic trail towards St. Adolari. The trail climbs gently through meadows and forests, accompanied by Stations of the Cross that guide you step by step to the small, historic pilgrimage church of St. Adolari – a place of tranquility with a special aura.

The St. Adolari Inn is a great place to take a break and refuel. A wide hiking trail then leads you to Lake Pillersee and from there, along its beautiful shores, back to St. Ulrich.

Pillersee

Highlight • Lake

From the jetty you have a wonderful view over the Pillersee to Ortisei. At the very top in the background you can see the Jakobskreuz. There is a beautiful, almost flat path around the lake with a great mountain backdrop. Always beautiful, in summer and also in winter.

St. Adolari Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The predecessor of this beautiful church dated back to around 1200, and at the beginning of the 15th century, the pilgrimage church of St. Adolari was expanded into its present form. The sacristy was added around 1684. The interior, with the largest Gothic Marian cycle in North Tyrol, is particularly worth seeing. It's well worth a visit, and you can also stop for refreshments at the Gasthof Adolari (Adolari Inn).

The Adolari Loop around Lake Pillersee leads as far away from the road as possible, following a panoramic path along the slopes of the Schafelberg. St. Adolari is the northernmost point of the tour. The local inn had to be closed due to a lack of official permission. Instead, we made a short detour to the bee trail. We even …

Nice walk around the lake. If you prefer a more leisurely walk, you can also walk around the lake near the shore on extremely good paths.

Nature. Lake. Unplanned sports session. Culinary delights.

It was a leisurely walk around the Pillersee, with almost no elevation gain.

On the east side you reach the central point with a beer garden, access to the lake and are immediately tempted to do some sporting activity: a climbing forest with several categories, also very suitable for children. So we took …
