The gently flowing Naab River is the focus of this circular tour near Schwandorf. For much of the route, you'll follow the gentle course of the river and cross the water several times. Could this have been the inspiration for the band Karat's famous German hit "Über sieben Brücken muss du gehn" (You Must Cross the Bridge Over Seven Bridges)?
Start at the Schwandorf fairgrounds. Follow the river to the blue bridge. Here, you'll cross the Naab for the first time. Continue your idyllic walk towards Fronberg. Shortly after, you'll follow a romantic old footpath – the Liebeswegerl (Love Path). According to an old legend, a terrible dragon once lived here, stealing farmers' cattle from the pastures and carrying virgins off to its lair. The Fronberg hammermen finally overpowered the monster with a specially forged spear and drowned it in the Naab.
Following the inner and outer Naab bridges, you'll finally reach your starting point again. By the way: Schwandorf also offers excellent gastronomic options if you want to fortify yourself after your tour.
