MS Palatia Memorial

Highlight • Monument

The memorial to the MS Palatia, a German freighter sunk off the Norwegian coast in 1942 by a New Zealand torpedo bomber. It was believed to be a ship carrying German troops on its way to Norway to supply ships. However, the ship was carrying 914 Russian prisoners of war. A total of 986 people lost their lives, including almost all Russian prisoners and a Norwegian pilot.

Lindesnes Lighthouse, Norway's southernmost point and a must-see. Interesting fortifications with many walkable passageways.

Impressive views over the rock, which was formed by wind, weather and probably the glaciers of the Ice Age.

Our second tour took us to Lindesnes Fyr, 🇳🇴's oldest lighthouse ⛴🔭🗼🔥. It is also the southernmost point of the Norwegian mainland. In the lighthouse itself, in some buildings and in the underground passages in the rock there is a small museum and an exhibition. It was very beautiful and worth it. 😊😊 Afterwards I went on a little tour …

A beautiful tour that requires surefootedness and some stamina

Beautiful hike. Always follow the blue markings. But be careful: it is definitely not an "easy" hike! You have to climb and there are slippery spots. Hiking boots are a must.

Adventurous climbing tour with a great view. You should be sure-footed.

An exceptional hike at Lindesnes Lighthouse, the southernmost tip of mainland Norway and only 2518 km from North Cape. The prospects are hard to beat. On the well-marked tours, however, there are a few climbing passages to be mastered. Sturdy shoes are required.

Great hike along or in front of Norway's southernmost lighthouse.

Even the approach on the coastal road 460 is a real spectacle, with little bays, colorful houses, Norway at its best.
If the satnav recommends a small forest path to the Lindesnes Fyr lighthouse, you'd better resist the temptation, the signposted path via the 460 to Lindesnes Fyr is a little longer, but much nicer!
From the large parking lot …
