A journey back in time to the region's formative past: This is what the Wäller Tour Brachbach Mine Hiking Trail offers. The focus is on the region's deeply rooted mining history.

The GeoRoute starts at the "Alte Freundschaft" fountain and near the small Mariengrotte (Mary's Grotto). These are the first highlights of the tour. And it continues in this vein, with many informative stations related to mining waiting to be explored. For example, you'll repeatedly come across entrances to old mines where slate and ore were once mined.

Today we were out and about in the eastern Westerwald for the first time, where we hiked the Wäller Tour Brachbach Mine Hiking Trail. A wonderful circular trail with many information panels about mining in and around Brachbach. Unfortunately, the trail profile offers few narrow paths, but many wide gravel roads, which was very pleasant in rainy weather like today.
