This itinerary takes you to discover the mountain ridge of Favignana, small but incredibly panoramic. From the port, climb along a paved road with the fort of Santa Caterina dominating the landscape with its imposing shape. The climb is constant, but each step offers increasingly wider views of the boundless blue of the sea.
After passing the pass that connects the two sides of the island, the route becomes wilder: a steep path winds through the Mediterranean vegetation and leads to the cross of Christ the Savior, an imposing six-meter high steel structure. From here, the view is simply spectacular.
Through an up and down immersed in nature, you reach the peak of the island, where the fortification commissioned by Roger the Norman stands. On the western side, centuries-old olive trees and wild carob trees extend, and Marettimo stands out on the horizon. It is the perfect spot to admire the sunset.
The descent follows an ancient stone staircase, steep at times, flanked by terraces where a rare and very fragrant flora thrives: thyme, borage, nettle and euphorbia. Little by little, the houses of Favignana reappear, the port and, beyond the sea, the profile of Levanzo, Trapani, Erice and the coast of Marsala.
