Nice tour around Lake Biel with a short excursion to the center following the Thielle canal.👌😀
Sporty New Year's Velo-Türli around Lake Biel. After the Silverster gluttony yesterday I felt the need to get my digestion back to normal 🤪. This works best with endurance sports 😅. So I set off in the morning, knowing that the sun won't show up until noon. And driving off early in the morning in foggy conditions has the advantage that hardly anyone is on the road. So you can really step on the gas. I actually only met the first cyclists at the Hagneck Canal 😉. Because I didn't know how long the old battery of my e-bike would last, I moved to Biel by car. You can park wonderfully at the Swatch car park. The route first leads to the Seevorstadt roundabout, where you cycle right towards Neuchâtel. The tour is signposted from here. There is currently a diversion from Bibschal. You drive a few kilometers north of the railway line because the road on the normal route is affected by construction work. Here you cycle along the vines, which is also very nice. Because I was sporty, I passed the nice tourist cafes Ligerz, Twann, La Neuveville and Le Landeron without stopping. With the exception of a few photos directly on the route. The pubs are closed today anyway, a break was not planned anyway. By the way, after Lüscherz the dirt road is closed due to a landslide. But you can drive through it without any problems. The landslide is a landslide and not a problem at all for pedestrians and bicycles and also not dangerous. Construction work could take place there during the week, then it may be difficult to get through. Otherwise the tour is easy to drive. Everything paved. Asphalt or dirt roads. When the weather is nice, you have to expect some "bustle" on the bike paths and dirt roads. Then there are a lot of pedestrians and cyclists on the road. This can be particularly strenuous in narrow passages (Biel to Twann). The splendid ventilation round served its purpose. The stomach growls again and demands "more supplies" 😃. And the fully charged battery, which only shows 80 km at the start (new 135 km), had 60 kilometers left on the counter at the end. Today I mostly rode above the support 😅. And was once again surprised how much power you have to use with the old Bosch engine (2nd gen.) Even when idling. Since I mostly ride the smoother eMTB, I no longer had this point on my radar. But that's good for the Mukies 😅😀.
Comfortable e-bike tour around Lake Biel. Today was nice weather. Ideal conditions for a short Sunday bike excursion with culinary breaks 😜. The tour starts at the Swatch car park in Biel Seevostadt. It leads along the signposted bike route along the lake. It is officially signposted as a cycle path. As if bikes were hiking 🤦♂️. And people ride bicycles. Oh well... The route leads along the railway line to Le Landeron over various well-paved terrain. Sometimes you have a bit of oncoming traffic (bikers and joggers). It is particularly noticeable where the path is narrow and crossing is only possible by stopping. At Ligerz you have to briefly change to a side street because the path along the lake is closed. However, this opens up the possibility of cycling through the pretty little wine-growing village of Ligerz. The alley next to the road (to the north) is particularly beautiful. One or the other will probably stop in one of the small restaurants or in a wine cellar to have a glass of wine. The most beautiful cycling section of the first half is the last few kilometers before La Neuveville. You no longer drive so close to the tracks through beautiful yellow-green vineyards. In La Neuveville you shouldn't just drive past the harbor, but take a short detour to the pretty, historic town. It is the right place for the aperitif 😃. We skipped this part today, so the route doesn't go there. At the end of the lake you drive through the pretty old part of town of Le Landron. Then over the bridge of the Zihl Canal and then pedal to Erlach. In Erlach there is time for the culinary. Several restaurants offer fish crisps and other dishes. Of course there are also drinks 🤗. Especially, of course, the local wine. You can also plan a longer break here and swim in the lake. Erlach is a magnet for tourists, so there is something going on here. The further course of the tour leads only a few kilometers over a bike path. Later then off the road through a green area. As always, a highlight is the Hagneck power plant. A gem with a restaurant and a small nature reserve. Here you should take a short break and take a look around. The section from the Hagneck Canal to Biel is again varied. You drive through villages, forests and meadows. In Mörigen there is a small inconspicuous bakery (with a terrace) on the left, which offers homemade baked goods and its own iced tea. The ice cream is also made by myself. A little later on the right there is a small restaurant for hamburgers and ice cream. Both places for dessert 😀. We have cycled around the lake many times and always find it beautiful. Relaxed, you can do light sports in super beautiful surroundings and let it go. When the weather is nice, like today, a great Sunday excursion.
Great tour - especially on the right side of the lake (near Ligerz etc.) most of the time on the river bank and in between many beautiful old towns and nice restaurants. On the other hand, it is no longer right along the lake and there are a lot of people (especially families) on the weekend. There are some nice little bathing spots between Mörigen and Sutz-Lattrigen that are not overcrowded. Pure holiday feeling!
Cozy e-bike door around the beautiful Lake Biel. This round is now one of our classics, which we like to ride again and again. Lake Biel, especially on the north side, is beautiful with its small, friendly wine villages surrounded by grapevines. At the moment, however, there is a lot of construction going on everywhere, which spoils the visual appeal a bit. The route first leads to the Seevorstadt roundabout, where you cycle to the right in the direction of Neuenburg. From here the tour is signposted. There is currently a detour from Bibschal. You drive a few kilometers north of the railway line because the road on the normal route is affected by construction work. Here you cycle directly along the vines, which is also very nice. Expecting nice visitors this afternoon, we skipped the stops at the nice tourist towns of Ligerz, Twann, La Neuveville and Le Landeron to save some time. We spent the short break in Erlach, right on the lake. With a great view over the lake and - at this time of the year still pleasantly warming - the sun. A highlight is always the Hagneck power plant. It's great that the builders attached so much importance to the retro aesthetics and the renaturation of the area. The small pub behind the power station is a gem by the way. The whole tour is easy to drive. All paved surfaces, namely asphalt or dirt roads. When the weather is nice, however, you have to reckon with some "hustle and bustle". Then there are a lot of pedestrians and cyclists on the road. This can be exhausting, especially in narrow passages (Biel to Twann). Since we were early, we were almost alone until shortly before Biel. The wonderful ventilation lap did us good. Full of data urge and energy we now expect our visitors.
Attention: various construction sites between Twann and Biel! Partial diversion on very narrow footbridges etc. Patience is required.
Is a very friendly and wide cycling route around Lake Biel.
Comfortable e-bike tour around Lake Biel. You can park at the headquarters of the Swatch Group, opposite the Magglingenbahn at Bieler Strandboden. This is followed by about two kilometers of road with a lot of traffic, until you can switch to the cycle path. This leads between the railway line and the lake in the direction of Erlach. After Ligerz there is still a diversion due to construction work. You are currently cycling north of the road, along the vineyards. Despite the busy road, a very nice section. We left out the pretty old town of La Neuveville today and cranked straight to Erlach. In Erlach there are fine fish crisps. Lunch in the sun was one of our goals for today. The way back follows mostly dirt roads, at the end it's a short section through the city. A highlight of this gate is the pretty Hagneck power plant. A lot of people were out and about here. We always like to drive this route because the landscape of Lake Biel is fantastic. And surrounded by nice wine villages. If you allow enough time, you should plan an aperitif in La Neuveville and enjoy a meal in Erlach. Fish is the magic word here. Perch fillets from the lake. Just as a tip 😃
