Yosemite Falls Trail

It was a really nice hike. It's early January and there's not much going on, but you shouldn't underestimate the time. Sunset is currently at 5pm. Ice spikes are recommended and maybe hiking poles for the way back. There's ice and snow at the top, especially on the way to Yosimite View. After a rockfall, the trail is difficult to walk in places. But it was officially open again.

This hike is full on demanding. You start at the trail head and then it just goes up until you reach the top of the waterfall. Just when you think there is only a bit left after you had your photo session from a great angle of the Yosemite fall, that's when the real struggle starts. The last third of the uphill section is an absolute killer. But once you get to the top and have the ultimate view, you will feel great and know that it was worth it. The Komoot navigation on this one is basically not necessary. There is just one clear trail. On my tour the GPS signal kept bouncing and the route looks wild, but in reality there is only one way up and the same down again.

Great hike in an incredible setting. The view of Half Dome is simply outstanding. Allow enough time and take the North Dome with you.

As I always do on vacation, I brought back the flu from Germany (hopefully the "new natives" are more robust than the old ones 😏) which had already badly affected me yesterday, so I set off relatively early this morning with a fever, a sore throat and a runny nose. Nice and slow, on perfectly laid out paths (almost suitable for sneakers 🙄) with a manageable number of fellow hikers. Slowly but surely and with endless photo breaks, we worked our way to the top of Yosemite Falls. A beautiful granite rock plateau that just invites you to continue on to the other peaks. Because of the snow and health, we gave up on that and just made a detour to Yosemite Point with a long break. With a heavy heart, we started the descent in the sweltering heat. And here they were: The MASSES! Fortunately, only on the seemingly endless descent. Please excuse the fact that some pictures and motifs are in there x-times, but it is difficult to sort through (already half🙈) but after all, we also like to use it as a photo album😇.

The Yosemite Falls Trail winds its way up, partly in tight switchbacks, not far from Upper Yosemite Fall, alongside the rock walls to the crest of the waterfall that gives it its name. The three sections of Yosemite Falls have a total height of 739 meters. @Mosmas accompanies me to the viewpoint of Upper Yosemite Fall, which is roughly at the same height as the waterfall's impact zone [https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2317319547]. Even before we see the waterfall, we can hear its roaring sound. From there, I climb the further ascent next to the waterfall. At the top, the landscape changes: I find a pine grove and have a view of hilly mountains. I continue my hike to Yosemite Point, from where I have magnificent views of Yosemite Valley and Half Dome. On the way back—it's already afternoon—the sun is at the perfect angle, and I can admire rainbows in the spray of Upper Yosemite Falls. Back down, I visit Lower Yosemite Falls.
